Horse Drawn Carriage Rides
Taking a horse-drawn carriage in Marrakech is an activity that no visitor should miss out on. The most recommended four-wheeled buggy ride is from Jemaa el-Fnaa to the city’s Palm Grove.
How much does it cost?
Like most other things in Marrakech, the route and price of the ride are negotiable and you can haggle with the driver for a better price until you get to an agreement.
A suggested itinerary is to cross the Palm Grove until you get to the Palmeraie Golf Palace. This drive will take around two hours. The journey should cost between 200 dh (US$ 20) and 250 dh (US$ 24.90), so make sure to bargain the price if your driver asks for more, which is very likely he will.
Most of the horse-drawn carriages in the city are located between Jemaa el-Fnaa and the Koutoubia Mosque.
Camel riding
You’ll see various groups of camels when you get to the Palmeraie. If you ask your calèche driver he will take you to someone that owns a caravan of camels so that you can go for a camel ride. The horse-drawn carriage driver will not mind waiting for you since he will get a commission from the camel owner for bringing him customers.
While crossing the Palm Grove you will see several children running next to your buggy, which will probably try and sell you their craftwork. Most are made of palm leaves and are very pretty.
Price
The average price is 280 dh (US$ 27.90) for two and a half hours.
